Book Classes Individually and Register Each Jr. Sailor Once Below
NSA believes every child aged 8 and above – from total beginner to experienced skipper – should get instruction that builds progressively on his or her individual skills and experience. That’s why we focus on a Learning To Sail Skills Ladder as the basic tool of instruction. SEE FAQ's FOR DETAILS. Part of every Monday’s orientation is determining where a child fits along the skills/experience spectrum. Our groups are small and our US Sailing certified instructors are trained to make each youngster the very best sailor he or she can be by moving them forward, skill by skill.
Sailors can sign up for Morning, Afternoon (or both) week-long sailing sessions.
The 2020 schedule begins Monday at 8:45 AM and 12:45 PM on June 29 and runs for eight weeks to August 21st. SEE FAQ's FOR DETAILS.

We are fortunate to have 4 accomplished and successful high school sailing instructors ranging in ages from 15 to 18. They have sailed with NSA between 5 and 9 years and have taught sailing 1 to 4 years. They are assisted in their sailing instruction duties by Counselors-in-Training, thus keeping the student/teacher ratio low (about 1:5). They are very good at making the learning to sail experience fun!
All hold these credentials:
-US Sailing Teaching Certifications
-Red Cross certifications in CPR & Lifesaving and Safe-Sport
-Coast Guard Boating Safety, Lifesaving and Launch Tender certifications
This year NSA is also offering two, 3-week sailing sessions for Advanced Skills / Racing. Racing classes are held between July 6-24 and July 27-August 14. SEE FAQ's FOR DETAILS
This program requires a 3-week commitment and is based on individual skill levels rather than age. Skippers may choose to sail one or both sessions.
NSA uses three types of sailboats for sailing instruction, each with a special purpose. Capri 14.2’s serve to introduce new sailors to the basics of sailing. Sailors with some experience and those that show an affinity for sailing are introduced to an Opti which the sailor “single-hands” under the watchful eye of instructors nearby in a Boston Whaler. More experienced sailor pair up to sail Club 420’s, a faster and more responsive sailboat used by high school and college racing teams. All sailing lessons are held on Little Pleasant Bay
